ANSWER: Well the MC part only really matters for the second gen ipod touch, as all 3rd gens are MC models, whereas about half of the 2nd gens are MC and the other half are MB. Basically, the MC models have a different version of iBoot (which is basically the part of the OS that allows the ipod to turn on). And this newer version was introduced by Apple to try and counter the jailbreak. Im not going to go into this too much though as you have a 3rd gen. Basically you’ll need to downgrade to 3.1.2 first through itunes, (you can download the 3.1.2 firmware from felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware) and then you hold shift and click restore in itunes and then select the firmware you just downloaded) and then jailbreak using blackra1n, which you can download from blackra1n.com. At present, there are no supported tools released to accomplish what you are asking for. There are a couple of unsupported tools that are around that will do this, but none of them are stable enough or reliable enough for us to recommend that the forum users use them. Early users of the software have had issues with certain key Cydia packages, and there are reports of cellular communication problems using the 4.1 OS with pre 4.x basebands that have not yet been isolated that have caused a lot of grief for users who attempted this with unsupported tools. If you have nothing to lose in the case of failure and you understand that it’s unsupported, you can find these tools by googling — but I recommend against it at present unless you will not be negatively impacted by being forced to upgrade the baseband to one that is currently incapable of being unlocked (and likely will be unable to be unlocked for several months at least). If you lose nothing by trying, then you lose nothing by trying. If you use this phone daily and it’s your "daily driver", AND you rely on an unlock for your service then I really would avoid 4.1 like the plague until the dev-team releases a supported tool for the job. If you end up with a phone that has the baseband upgraded to the baseband included with 4.1, there is only an extremely small possibility that you will be able to downgrade the baseband back to one that is unlockable — so what you’re asking to do can be very dangerous to your usefulness of the phone if you rely on an unlock, as any failure here can leave your phone in a locked state for months until (maybe) a 4.1 baseband exploit is announced and ultrasn0w is updated to work with it. Highly unlikely though, it doesn’t follow with the general release pattern that the dev-team has upheld historically…. In either case, good luck!

For my Demon Hunter’s Active skills I chose a mix between Hatred Generators, Spenders, and Discipline spells (what a surprise!). My staple Hatred Generators were Hungering Arrow and Evasive Fire, the latter of which shoots enemies for 125% weapon damage, and if an enemy is at close range you back flip away 15 yards. This mix of Hatred Generation was strong enough to take out enemies out quickly, and then I’d spend my Hatred on Chakram which could rip through packs of foes quickly. Finally, I used Vault as my Discipline skill to both get away from enemies quickly, as well as a way to stylishly get from one pack to the next. In sticky situations I’d throw down a caltrop trap, but in general I didn’t need to do this too much.

Regardless, here’s a list of things you should’ve known about Diablo III before buying the game/committing for Annual Pass only because of it – none of them were kept in secret: Diablo is not a MMO. Yes, you can play with people all around the world, but it is not a MMO. It is a single-player slash cooperative game with dynamic difficulty. "Difficulty" stands for difficulty. It is the same game, same locations, same monsters, same quests – at higher difficulty. Yes, there are four difficulties, and yes, they all are basically the same thing. If you have completed the game on normal mode, you’ve seen the whole game. (Dynamic difficulty mentioned just a wee bit above stands for monsters’ HP being based on the number of players in the game) "Hardcore mode" stands for hardcore mode. It is not a difficulty. It isn’t something like heroic mode in WoW. It doesn’t make your character look like a "hardcore" teenage pop music fan, with black hair, pierced ass and pink shoes. Hardcore mode stands for dying only once. You die on hardcore mode, you die forever. Your character, your items, your gold – all is lost forever. There’s no second chance, no matter if you die because of a lag, disconnect, blackout or whatnot. Blizzard will not return you anything, even if you threaten them to quit the game forever and go play some of its clones. This mode is not obligatory – you will never be forced to play it. This mode has no advantages over softcore (yes, that’s how it’s called) mode either. Diablo 3 is all about grind. Getting max level (grind), perfect gear (grind), leveling other characters (grind), getting perfect gear for them (grind). Diablo 3 is exactly like Diablo 2, which was the quintessence of grind. There will NOT be content patches. Content will be released only as expansions, for which you will have to pay extra. There won’t be new dailies and pets released every six months to keep your entertained. It will probably be two or three years before the first expansion. A little FAQ now: I don’t like this game at all! Then why have you bought it? 1) This game was announced four years ago, and during those four years there was a great deal of information released about it. There were three stages of beta testing, including an open weekend. You weren’t offered a pig in a poke. 2) There is Guest Pass, which is basically a trial mode for D3. "I don’t like it at all" assumes an incredible level of ignorance about the product you have purchased. It’s like having bought a three-piece suit at a fancy store with a whole lot of dressing rooms where nothing in the world stops you from inspecting every inch of the suit and trying it on – all that before you pay for it. However, you paid for it right away without even looking at it, got back home and then realized that the suit doesn’t fit and you don’t like the color – and now you blame the shopkeeper for having sold you a shitty suit. Everyone was excited about it (the game, not the suit) and you thought that means you will like it too. Your own ignorance is the only thing you can blame. It is too short! If you follow the story instead of rushing through the game because everyone else does (everyone else is going to play this game for weeks, months or years like they played Diablo 2, so they’ll have plenty of time to watch the cinematics and read the story), Diablo 3 lasts for approximately 10 hours. It is not a short game. But if it can be finished in 5 hours, it is short! I’ll just give you TES series as example for speed run durations: Morrowind – 4 minutes Oblivion – 12 minutes Skyrim – 2 hours Look, those games are even shorter, aren’t they? So anyway, you have finished the game in five hours. Your character is say, 30 level. There are three more difficulties and 30 more levels to get, and you don’t feel like playing it anymore? Alright, then we both are wasting our time in this conversation. It is too easy! Fighting boars in Elwynn Forest was easy and boring. Does that experience of mine allow me to say that WoW is easy? Normal mode of Diablo II/III is pretty much equal in difficulty to killing boars. Wait until you stumble upon a Lightning Enchanted + Multi-Shot champion in the first act of Hell, let alone things that await us at Inferno. In fact, easy mode is very likely to be already gone at Nightmare difficulty. It requires being connected to the Internet even if I want to play alone! Once again, this was announced long before the release. Announced. Publicly. Back in 2011. Before you’ve signed up for Annual Pass or pre-ordered the game. I do fully agree with you – there’s no reason to process single-player game through the Internet, but it was up for Blizzard to decide and so they did, and you agreed to it. If you bought a box, I bet "Requires an active Internet connection to play" is written all over it. I’m also annoyed about the current server capability myself – I haven’t managed to play at the release night or the release day, I hardly got in at the release evening, and the servers were shut down shortly after I’ve finished with Diablo. I’m not sure whether that issue is present in US, but I’d gladly see everyone responsible for the release in EU (and Asia) fired for being completely incompetent or indifferent to players. This issue, however, will not stand for long, and soon we all will be enjoying enjoying the game without having to worry about the technical stuff.

As an aside: I think the FCC should in the interests of not filling landfills with phones allow/force a manufacturer or third party licensed by the manufacturer the ability to unlock phones no longer tied to a contract with a carrier. I seriously think unlock is more important than jailbreak and have 3 iphones only one under contract currently (having upgraded and paid the price to upgrade early) to have development phones around for App testing. That a developer logically and maybe even ethically should test on the members of the family of devices and AT&T in the US makes that device cost $2K plus over the life of the contract is painful. I spend more on phones and their plans covering them than the actual development environment and SDK / developer license fees. (I have a few iPod Touches too for the same reason). The slate is gonna kill me if it actually is on sale in January. I am hoping for March so it is more able to be budgeted.

I strongly advise you browse to the directory where the backup is stored and make a ZIP file of the directory (as iTunes has a bad habit of erasing the backup when you set the phone up as new) if unlock is important to you – then you have two options (neither are great)

I just successfully jailbroke my iPhone 3G with 3.1.3 firmware using Pwnage 3.1.5. Now, I’ve hit a wall, though… I just downloaded a few apps via Cydia, specifically MyWi and Categories. Cydia asks to "reboot device". I’ve only been able to find discussions online about rebooting a tethered 3.1.2 jailbreak with blackra1n, but can’t find anything about rebooting with a 3.1.3 jailbreak with Pwnage. Help? Is it as simple as rebooting and going through the jailbreak process again, as I did the first time?

Unfortunately I quickly found out that Apple does not like you to downgrade the OS and firmware for reasons that are only known to them, regardless of the fact that the new OS clearly does not perform well on a 3G model. I tried the ‘normal’ downgrade process using iTunes 9.2, a 3.1.3 firmware file which I downloaded from this site and entering the phone into DFU mode as described in various guides. However at the end of the restore process I always got Error 1015 which basically translates to ‘Nice try my boy’.

With ALL the issues everyone is having with iOS4, I still don’t get why everyone is so hell bent on upgrading. Those are the same ones that will be back trying like hell to get back on 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 and end up being stuck. Why not wait till they fix iOS4 and jailbreak it before upgrading? That way u don’t have to mess around with cooked or custom firmwares and avoid all the issues to begin with. Just my $0.02
