First of all, if you don’t have any idea about what Tiny Umbrella is all about, you can visit this previous article for more information. How important is an SHSH blob? For jailbreakers and anyone who cannot live with a non-jailbroken iPhone, this is very important.
Tiny Umbrella is the easiest and most convenient tool to use in saving an SHSH blob. This helps anyone to downgrade from a previous iOS version to an older one. Now, the latest version of Tiny Umbrella is updated to support the latest iOS 5.0.1, excluding the iPhone 4S. This is because during the restore process, Apple now signs firmware differently.
Even though there is still no working solution for restoring 5.x on iPhone 4S I have released a 5.01.00 so you can at least save 5.0.1 SHSH. I have added tentative support for at least saving 5.0.1 SHSHs for iPhone 4S but as of now we are unable to use them fully.
Thanks to the developer of Tiny Umbrella. For some point, this helps everybody to save their SHSH blobs even if there’s still no jailbreak available. You’ll never know the future.

Every iPhone users are always looking for new ways to enhance the great smartphone they possess. Today, I want to share two jailbreak tweaks that are simple and easy to install yet it gives color to your iPhone while in the lockscreen mode.
LabelSlide
LabelSlide is a jailbreak tweak that will change your default “slide to unlock” text on the slide button to whatever text you may want. Available for free in the BigBoss repo, LabelSlide can be downloaded and installed immediately after searching it. After you have installed this tweak, you can go to your Settings app so you can change and activate the text you may want to show in your lockscreen. There is an added feature wherein you can replace the text with the current date. But obviously you may not want this since the date is usually displayed on top. Here is a video for more information on LabelSlide.
LockSecondsIndicator

Although this tweak is not the first of its kind, it however caught my attention. This is because when I tried it on my iPhone, it does run smoothly. With less memory used in this tweak (about only 47KB), I can sincerely recommend this tweak if ever you want to enhance the default time display on your lockscreen. That is, it will add seconds in your time with real time indication. To install this tweak, search through Cydia “LockSecondsIndicator” and install. Your iPhone will respring. Go to Settings App and activate the tweak.

There you go; two tweaks that will customize your lockscreen. Tell us how you think about this tweaks by writing comments below.

Repositories are independent distribution channels that offer Cydia packages to customers from different developers. These repositories (or repos), also known as online hubs, contains the apps/tweaks for quick and easy access and installation. The Bigboss repo, for example, is a popular repo in Cydia that contains majority of the tweaks and are conveniently listed for easy browsing of customers.
While larger repos also contains a huge number of packages that sometimes flooded with garbage apps, it is nice to know that you can now create your very own repository so you can collect your favorite apps and tweaks which you can share with your friends. This is because sharing Cydia apps can sometimes be impossible with attaching in emails, that’s why creating your own repos is the best way.
iRepo is the new jailbreak tweak will allow you to create repos on your own and will host .deb files in your own iPhone or iPad with iOS 4.2 or higher. The following are the steps:
1. Purchase iRepo from Cydia through the BigBoss repo for $1.99.
2. iRepo will install and reboot your iPhone. A new icon will be present in your springboard.
3. Open up iRepo icon to start the app and you will be greeted with the configuration settings.

4. Input the name of your repo as you want it, a description or a codename for its contents. You can also add a password for secure access.
5. Tap on “Save” and go back to Status to enable your repo.
6. To add .deb files, you can SSH your iPhone in your computer under the “packages” option or use iFile so you can add anytime and anywhere.
Making your own Cydia repo is not too hard for a beginner!

iPhone users cannot really deny the fact that its SMS app is not as good as with other smartphones. So, the jailbreak developers came up with a solution on enhancing SMS with the release of BiteSMS. And now, another messaging app was launched for an option of the jailbreak community to switch over from the previous BiteSMS that costs $9.99.
SMS+ was the latest addition to messaging app for iPhones. Now available through Cydia, SMS+ cost only $1.99. This iPhone-only messaging app is loaded of great features like the following:
- Quick reply (can also be configured with Activator) – allows you to quickly reply to an incoming SMS without leaving the application
- Text to speech – you can also use your iPhone to “speak” the text message being received
- Status bar notifications – can also mark as read later option
- Does not add another icon in your springboard – it only integrates with the iOS SMS app
- Timestamps for every message
- Mark all as read
- Pull to sort (Sorting by Date or Sender)
Although SMS+ don’t have all the features that BiteSMS had, the price difference is absolutely tempting for you to save more. The developer of SMS+, Filippo Biga, had already brought the jailbreak community with previous tweaks like CameraLock and Springtomize.
“SMS+ is the best solution to improve your SMS experience on iOS. It integrates perfectly in the native SMS application, adding to it those functionalities you won’t ever be able to stay without after having tried them.”
Try it for yourself and give us a comment what you think about SMS+.

Do you think all the great applications are from iOS? Not all. In fact, there are a lot of excellent apps in Android and recently one is being imported to iOS. Dolphin Browser was the best browser available in the Android OS but is now making its way in the App Store which is perfect for smartphones with smaller screens like the iPhone 4. The developer’s claim for the reason to be on top was the deep gesture integration that reduces the need to include a number of on-screen buttons.
While there are already browsers available in the App Store aside from the default Safari, Dolphin is aiming to be on top by offering it for FREE. Since the iOS 5 is coming in the next few weeks, it is expected to modify the mobile Safari which may include features from other browsers that is lacking with it.
I recently tried Dolphin in my iPhone 4 and was definitely not upset about it. In fact, I now use it for good. It provides tabbed browsing and smart address bar which will give you a list of your most visited websites just like browsing in a computer. Bookmarking is also present to provide your favorites to be on list.
More features are stated by its developers for everyone who doubts about Dolphin. Here is the list:
“✓ Gestures
You can simplify the way you navigate the mobile web without going through complicated clicks. On the bottom menu bar, you can find the gesture button (finger shape), which enables the gesture mode. In gesture mode, you can draw a sign or add a new gesture. For example, in any web site, if you input “v” gesture in the gesture mode, you can go to the bottom of the web site.
✓ Webzine
Bring out the beauty of the web and with Dolphin Webzine users can experience the web like never before.
✓ Tabbed browsing
Real tabbed browsing. Feel like you are on a desktop. Add tabs within Dolphin just like you would on a desktop.
✓ Sidebar
We implemented two side bars for you to access Bookmark and Tool Bar without going through complicated clicks; you can access Tool Bar simply by swiping from the right edge of iPhone screen to left. You can access Bookmark simply by swiping from the left edge of iPhone screen to right.
✓ Speed Dial
Put favorite sites on Speed Dial. Stop looking around in your bookmarks. Forget about typing out long URL. Just put your favorite sites on Speed Dial.
✓ Smart Address Bar
Smart and effortless browsing by auto-completing URL and context menus When you type the first few characters of a URL, Dolphin auto-complete the URL by displaying all results from both bookmarked items and your browsing history.
✓ Bookmark Folder
We implemented Folder in Bookmark. Now you can organize your bookmarks into different folders, as you currently are doing with your desktop web browsers!
✓ Desktop Mode
Switch between desktop view and mobile view according to your needs Need to view the full site of facebook sometimes on mobile? Dolphin helps you do that.”

Explore Hidden Features in SBSettings

SBSettings is one of the best reasons why a person would want to jailbreak their iPhone (or other Apple devices). This is because with SBSettings, you can take control of your iPhone with just a few taps of your fingers. What else you can do about SBSettings? Shortcut toggle switches to turn ON and OFF your WiFi, Bluetooth, Data, 3G or Airplane Mode; you can do a lot more with some features that are not usually used by the iPhone users. I assumed you have SBSettings in your iPhone so you can try the features I am going to discuss.
First of all, you can hide icons in your springboard by the use of SBSettings. For example you have an adult content app or a violent game which should not be exposed to children who may want to borrow your iPhone, this feature will easily lets you hide that app. To hide apps using SBSettings, launch SBSettings by swiping your status bar from left to right and tap “more”. A menu will be presented and you can see “Hide Icons”. After tapping the “Hide Icons” menu, you will be brought to the list of apps installed in your iPhone. Turn OFF the apps you want to hide and it will immediately take effect.

Next thing I recently tried is the “Fast Note” feature of SBSettings. This allows users who are in a hurry to jot things up to input important information rather than opening your Notes in the default iPhone utilities which saved you more time. Just make sure to enable Fast Note in SBSettings by setting it “ON” in “Set Toggles”.
The last thing I want to share is that SBSettings has a default battery percentage feature wherein you can see the actual percentage your battery have. I know some of you may find this ridiculous that just now I knew this is available in SBSettings, but the reason I am sharing this feature is because more people didn’t know this feature is built-in with SBSettings. To turn ON your numberic battery, navigate from SBSettings to more, and clicking on “System Options”. You can then see the toggle switch to turn ON and OFF your battery percentage.

There are more features in SBSettings that will help you enjoy your iPhone and I want to live it up to you to discover.

While there are more jailbreak tweaks coming up every day, I want to make a review for old tweaks yet some people didn’t know about it. ‘EZDecline’ and GPower Pro’ are available in Cydia for quite some time but its functions remain to be useful for your iPhone. Let’s take a look in these $1 tweaks and let me know what you think about them.
EZDecline
Isn’t it frustrating to see that your iPhone (being a smartphone) is not smart enough to put a decline button when somebody is calling you? This happens a lot when somebody is calling you at a bad time. Well, Thanks to the jailbreak developers who provided EZDecline jailbreak tweak which allows you to have an option “Decline” aside from the usual “Slide to Answer” option only. This works with all iPhones and optimized perfectly for Retina Display of the iPhone 4. Available for $0.99 in the BIgBoss repo via Cydia.

GPower Pro
From the developer of Locktopus, comes GPower Pro which modifies the options displayed when you press and hold the power button on your iPhone, iPod or iPad. Aside from the only “Slide to Power Off” option, you will now have the ability to “reboot” abd “respring” your iDevice in the same manner. A simple tweak yet useful when you sometimes find your iPhone hanging or freezes. Designed to work on all iOS versions for all iDevices, GPower Pro is available also for $0.99 in the BigBoss repo.

iCloud is a cloud computing service from Apple which enables users to store music, photos, apps, calendars, documents and more for download to multiple iDevices such as iPhones, iPod Touch, iPad, Mac or PC. It will soon replace the current MobileMe program from Apple which syncs data for email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, notes, to-do lists and other data.
It is like you are having a hard drive in the sky (virtual storage) but more than that; it is the easiest way to access everything on all your iDevices. Now, you can access all your data almost anywhere.
For now, Apple has launched the iCloud Beta (www.icloud.com) on the web. As it turns out, this is only available for developers at the meantime. The new iCloud website features web apps for Mail, Calendar, Contacts and iWork documents. The FindMyiPhone service is also integrated and all your information and iWork content can then be accessed through www.icloud.com if you have an accunt. If you want to try the service, you need to register a developer account for $99 a year and in addition to iCloud, you can also access exclusive development tools and documentation. The iCloud service is said to be launched together with the iOS 5 in the coming months before holidays.
Prices for the iCloud service are the following:
5GB: free
10GB: $20 (15GB total)
20GB: $40 (25GB total)
50GB: $100 (55GB total)
The entire interface of iCloud’s web portal is much likely in an iOS device as you can see. The web apps resemble the icons in your iPhone or iPad which looks easy to use.
How excited are you in the upcoming iCloud service?

For every small detail that someone will need to his iPhone, the jailbreak community has always an answer. Have you ever been bothered because you missed a very important call in your iPhone? By default, iPhone 4’s ringtone is not too loud to be heard from a distance, especially when inside your pocket. Common situations happen when you sometimes think that your heard your iPhone ringing, or was it really ringing. We could not have missed an important call if only the world’s most loved smartphone will ring louder like the other brands. Don’t worry, the jailbreak community has a solution fr that, the PocketMode.
A jailbreak tweak that will increase the ring and SMS volume of your iPhone 4 until you finally notice that somebody is trying to call you. Though PocketMode sounds simple, as some would say, the function is quite complex since it will detect when you’ve removed your iPhone 4 where it was and readjust the volume accordingly. Using your iPhone’s ambient light sensor, PocketMode detects the dark surroundings when your iPhone is inside your pocket or bag.
Maybe somebody will ask, “Will PocketMode gets annoying during the night when I sleep?” Well, the developer also thought about that particular problem. A ‘Night Mode’ option will allow users to set a time frame when the app will disable itself.
PocketMode is worth $1.49 and obviously need a jailbroken iPhone since you will use Cydia to install this.

Important: Activate Find My iPhone

While some of us are already using iPhones for a long period of time, some of are also new to this device. If you are one of the later, don’t be too excited. Instead, you should know the basics of having an iPhone, especially the security features it has brought which are not available to other brands. For those who are using iPhones in the past but didn’t know this important reminder yet, I hope this helps for you.
Now, what I am talking about is the security feature that iPhone has possessed since the start of iOS version 4. Up until now, with the latest iOS 4.3.3 and 4.3.4, Find My iPhone app is freely distributed. As what its name says, Find My iPhone is a tracking feature to locate a missing iPhone 4, iPad or iPod Touch 4th gen.
If you lose your iPhone 4 because you have dropped it or maybe somebody stole it, you can then hop into a computer to follow the GPS coordinates of the iPhone on a Google Map. It will also trigger a beeping sound which is loud enough to hear from under a couch nearby. If you think that you really cannot get it back, you can either lock your iPhone or wipe the data contained (but you cannot find it anymore).
You need to activate first the Find My iPhone feature before you lose your iPhone. Here are the steps:
- Update to the latest iOS (4.3.3 recommended).
- Go to Settings App in your iPhone 4. Tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Add Account and tap MobileME.
- Enter your Apple ID (Username and Password). If you don’t have one yet, you can create one from there. Tap next.
- Check your email for a verification email from Apple and click the link to verify and sign-in with your Apple ID.
- Go back to Settings and Turn ON the Find My iPhone feature. Confirm to finish.

If you will lose your iPhone, sign in to www.mobileme.com using your Apple ID so you can locate your missing iPhone. You can also install the Find My iPhone App to any other iDevice.

NASA Space Shuttle ATLANTIS is carrying two iPhone 4s to the International Space Station (ISS) launched last July 8, 2011 for experimentation. This is the last mission associated with Atlantis but iPhone fans will always remember this event since this is the first time that space explorations included a smartphone (iPhone 4) and was part of the study.
The two iPhones, according to NASA and Apple, are “space certified” and was loaded with specifically developed app called SpaceLab for iOS. This app will allow astronauts to conduct various experiments via the app’s features such as Limb Tracker, State Acquisition, Lifecycle Flight Instrument (LFI) and Sensor Calibration. For users who want to experience space exploration app, SpaceLab for iOS is now available for download at iTunes at $0.99. This app is identical to the version brought by the scientist to ISS even though designed for use in space.

Limb Tracker
The Limb Tracker will allow astronauts to measure altitude above earth’s surface by measuring the curvature of the earth’s limb. This is equivalent to “manual” horizon sensor.
Sensor Calibration
The Sensor Calibration experiment will take a series of photos using iPhone 4. The images combined with the transmitted information using three-axis gyro and accelerometer will help improve the knowledge and accuracy of subsequent measurements.
State Acquisition
Astronauts will take photos of the Earth, and manually line up a coastline model from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with the captured photos.
Lifecycle Flight Instrument (LFI)
This experiment will assess iPhone’s capability to withstand the harsh rigor of space flights. This will also attempt to detect and measure radiation exposure and help Engineers determine how well an iPhone functions.

As we all know that everyone is anticipating the release of Jailbreak for iPad 2, I never thought that it was released sooner as I expected. Comex, the developer for JailbreakMe 3.0, has now released the latest and easiest way to jailbreak your iPhone. Despite the leak regarding the JailbreakMe beta version, Comex has still managed to continue his work which will also work for iPhone.
Perhaps Comex was really upset about the leak and was in a hurry to finish the jailbreak ahead of time. Anyways, we still owe him the thanks for the effort he had exerted. And the people who made the leak, they owe an apology to Comex for what they’ve done.

Only the following iDevices and FirmWares will the JailbreakMe 3.0 works:
- iPad 1: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPad 2: 4.3.3
- iPhone 3GS: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4 CDMA: 4.2.6 to 4.2.8
- iPod touch 3g: 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
- iPod touch 4g: 4.3 to 4.3.3

- From your iPhone, open www.JailbreakMe.com using Safari.
- Tap “FREE” and “INSTALL” to start.
- Cydia will now be installed in your iPhone.
- After it’s finished, your iPhone must be jailbroken.
- Reboot your iPhone.
The following video will also help for you to jailbreak your iPhone.
Note:Clear the cache and cookies from your Safari and remove the apps from the multi-tasking tray and reboot your iPhone in case problems may occur.

3D iPhone Accessory: Pic3D Sheet
Nowadays, everywhere you go seems like the 3D technology is on the rise. LCD TVs, movie theaters and even mobile devices are now upgrading for this kind of era. This means that since mobile devices (like smartphones and tablets) will be the target for this rising technology. And since iPhone is the number one gadget that everyone are hoping to have, it’s great features also comes great enhancements for 3D technology. What’s better? It does not require any 3D-specific hardware.
During the 3D and Virtual Reality Expo in Tokyo this week, Global Wave (the company behind Pic3D) introduced their new 3D accessory. Just like the technology used in 3D glasses, the Pic3D sheet converts your iPhone (or other iDevice) into a 3D display using a thin lenticular lens system to combine side-by-side images.
There is a thicker screen protector, much like of a regular iPhone screen protector, which covers the Pic3D sheet. Once the whole sheet was installed, 3D images will pass from your iPhone through the Pic3D sheet. Global Wave provides an application which needs to be installed first on your iPhone to further enhance the quality of the 3D videos.
This technology is not limited only to iDevices; it can also be installed to laptops, LCD TVs and Tablets. The application is compatible to iOS and windows. Although there is no exact date for this technology to appear in the market, some says it will run around $25.
How do you like to have a 3D iPhone in your pocket?

Every day, I am very excited to search for the latest and interesting jailbreak tweaks that are coming out from the jailbreak community. Today, I will make a review for jailbreak tweaks Custom Lock and Missed Reminder which are now available in Cydia for iPhone jailbreak users to download.
Custom Lock

As the tweak name says, customization of your lockscreen by adding a text will now be possible replacing the clock and date while your iPhone is locked. To download this tweak, launch Cydia and search for “Custom Lock” if you have added already the repo: http://rpetri.ch/repo/. Install Custom Lock and go to iPhone Settings App to input the text you want to appear in your lock screen. You can either change the clock and date or both.
Color your iPhone lockscreen with the new customization tweak by Custom Lock, developed by Tyler Nettleton.
Missed Reminder

As Apple continue their innovation of the new iOS 5 which will be coming later this year, there is one feature some of the iPhone users needed to have in their iDevices. Just like Blackberry smartphones, a tiny LED will flash whenever notifications are left, especially missed calls. Today, I have also read another interesting jailbreak tweak that is available in Cydia.
The MissedReminder, available for $0.99 in Cydia, is a tweak that will allow your iPhone 4’s LED flash to blink whenever you had a missed call. There will be no icon added, but the settings can be changed at the Settings App.
This is one of the tweaks that maybe included again in the upcoming iOS 5. We’ll just hold on to that. Enjoy!
