As we all know that everyone is anticipating the release of Jailbreak for iPad 2, I never thought that it was released sooner as I expected. Comex, the developer for JailbreakMe 3.0, has now released the latest and easiest way to jailbreak your iPhone. Despite the leak regarding the JailbreakMe beta version, Comex has still managed to continue his work which will also work for iPhone.
Perhaps Comex was really upset about the leak and was in a hurry to finish the jailbreak ahead of time. Anyways, we still owe him the thanks for the effort he had exerted. And the people who made the leak, they owe an apology to Comex for what they’ve done.

Only the following iDevices and FirmWares will the JailbreakMe 3.0 works:
- iPad 1: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPad 2: 4.3.3
- iPhone 3GS: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4 CDMA: 4.2.6 to 4.2.8
- iPod touch 3g: 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
- iPod touch 4g: 4.3 to 4.3.3
Here are the easy steps to jailbreak your iPhone with JailbreakME 3.0:
- From your iPhone, open www.JailbreakMe.com using Safari.
- Tap “FREE” and “INSTALL” to start.
- Cydia will now be installed in your iPhone.
- After it’s finished, your iPhone must be jailbroken.
- Reboot your iPhone.
The following video will also help for you to jailbreak your iPhone.
Note:Clear the cache and cookies from your Safari and remove the apps from the multi-tasking tray and reboot your iPhone in case problems may occur.

Every day, I am very excited to search for the latest and interesting jailbreak tweaks that are coming out from the jailbreak community. Today, I will make a review for jailbreak tweaks Custom Lock and Missed Reminder which are now available in Cydia for iPhone jailbreak users to download.
Custom Lock

As the tweak name says, customization of your lockscreen by adding a text will now be possible replacing the clock and date while your iPhone is locked. To download this tweak, launch Cydia and search for “Custom Lock” if you have added already the repo: http://rpetri.ch/repo/. Install Custom Lock and go to iPhone Settings App to input the text you want to appear in your lock screen. You can either change the clock and date or both.
Color your iPhone lockscreen with the new customization tweak by Custom Lock, developed by Tyler Nettleton.
Missed Reminder

As Apple continue their innovation of the new iOS 5 which will be coming later this year, there is one feature some of the iPhone users needed to have in their iDevices. Just like Blackberry smartphones, a tiny LED will flash whenever notifications are left, especially missed calls. Today, I have also read another interesting jailbreak tweak that is available in Cydia.
The MissedReminder, available for $0.99 in Cydia, is a tweak that will allow your iPhone 4’s LED flash to blink whenever you had a missed call. There will be no icon added, but the settings can be changed at the Settings App.
This is one of the tweaks that maybe included again in the upcoming iOS 5. We’ll just hold on to that. Enjoy!

Last week I wrote an article about Gevey SIM that will probably unlock iPhones running on iOS 5 to be launched later this year. Sad to say, it’s still to be a tethered unlock. But now, the manufacturer of Gevey SIM has updated their latest innovation that will be more interesting than the previous products.
This process will now permanently unlock your iPhone 4 running on all FirmWares iOS 4 and basebands. All you need is the Gevey Ultra SIM and a jailbroken iPhone 4. Take note: Gevey Ultra SIM will work only if you jailbreak your iPhone first. In the previous Gevey SIM, the process is quite long. Now, the process of dialing 112 was eliminated.

Here are the steps to follow:
- Remove the SIM card from your iPhone (I assume you know how to do it). Cut your SIM card in order to fit for the Gevey SIM that is included in the package. Be very careful not to cut the circuit (metal part).
- This process really need you iPhone to be jailbroken: Launch Cydia and add to your Sources: http://cydia.furiousmod.com. Search for “FuriousMod” after adding the source and install it. An error message will pop up “No SIM card installed.” Neglect the message and turn off your iPhone.
- With your SIM card on top of the Gevey Ultra SIM, place it on the SIM tray and insert back to your iPhone.
- Turn ON your iPhone and wait for the signal to appear. Don’t do anything until your iPhone picks up a signal ignoring all the errors that may come up.
- Turn ON Data Roaming in order to get a 3G network.
Enjoy your newly unlocked iPhone, which is better than software unlocked, in just a few minutes.

Have you ever experienced when your iPhone cannot connect or search for the WiFi network near you? I often tried this situation when visiting a coffee shop in the mall. This is because the iOS that Apple has provided to all iDevices really neglect the WiFi networks with less quality for users to view. Although it helps iDevices’ users to prevent from experiencing poor web browsing, this also paralyzed your device when searching for a web connection.

WiFi Booster, as it was called, will now prevent the prevention of showing all the networks available in your range. Its main purpose is to lessen the signal threshold at which WiFi hotspots are shown in Settings. To install WiFi Booster, you need to jailbreak first your iPhone. When you have a jailbroken iPhone already, launch Cydia and search for WiFi Booster which is available from BigBoss repo. The current price for this app is $1.99 but its worth is far cheaper after it will give you a better network range. Another great feature that WiFi Booster has offered is it doesn’t add any extra icons for your settings. Its settings are directly installed to your iPhone’s WiFi tab. After installing it from Cydia, you can open your WiFi tab settings and you can see the difference. Aside from displaying all the available networks, you can also see the MAC address of each router.

Thanks to the developer of WiFi Booster, I can now have a better range of networks for my iPhone!

TheftAlarm
Although Apple has included the service “Find My iPhone” for every iPhone users to use, preventing your iPhone from being stolen is still better. TheftAlarm is a jailbreak tweak that will help every jailbroken iPhone from being stolen while charging. This is best suitable if you are a person on the go or sometimes you drain out your iPhone battery while in a coffee shop or class.

Unfolder
Creating a folder for iPhone is very easy. Just hold on to an app and wait for it to wiggle, drag to another app and that’s it! But how about deleting a folder? You can’t. Since you still need to remove first the apps contained on that folder in order for that folder to be gone. That’s why Filippo Bigarella, the developer of TheftAlarm, has also come up with this jailbreak tweak “Unfolder.” This tweak is again, simple yet useful! When you have Unfolder installed in your iPhone, you can delete an entire folder in just one tap so that your contained apps will be back at your springboard.

Note: The following tweaks, FlashLock and QuickGoogle, will only work if you jailbreak your iPhone.
FlashLock
There are a lot of flashlight apps available in AppStore or in Cydia but this particular new jailbreak tweak catches up my attention because of its simplicity and convenience to use. Developed by Filippo Bigarella, FashLock is a shortcut to your iPhone 4 cameras to be used as a flashlight by just tapping an icon in the lockscreen after it has been installed.
To install FlashLock, launch Cydia and navigate to Sources and add Filippo’s repo: http://filippobiga.me/repo. After adding the repo, search for “FlashLock” and install then the springboard will restart. Double tap your Home button to add FlashLock icon near the slide of lockscreen. Tap to activate the flashlight.
This is a simple tweak but can be very useful at certain situations. Thanks to this tweak.

QuickGoogle
Here is a very nice tweak to use when you want to search on something in google. QuickGoogle is designed to launch almost anywhere in your iPhone. This is useful when making a quicksearch on google. Just search for “QuickGoogle” in Cydia, install and you’re good to go after restarting your springboard. Use Activator to assign the activator button for launching QuickGoogle. Future updates to this tweak may include news search or image search. Let’s just hope this will continue to provide better search app for google.

Gevey SIM: To Work in iOS 5?

With the upcoming iOS 5 to be launched later this year, everyone is curious on how to unlock their iPhone when being upgraded to the latest FW. Previously, I have covered a topic regarding unlocking your iPhone by using Gevey SIM. This process actually will work for iOS 4.2 and 4.3 with some selected basebands.
But recently, as the iOS 5 Beta was now available for developers, there have been a lot of questions on the topic regarding if Gevey SIM will still unlock the iPhones running with iOS 5. So, some guys at the jailbreak community actually tested to answer the big question. Gevey SIM actually unlocks the iPhone running with iOS 5 Beta! The process for using the Gevey SIM still remains as what we covered in the previous topic about how to unlock iPhone 4 using Gevey SIM.
To be able to test iOS 5 Beta, you need to have a developer account in Apple with an iPhone registered to the iOS Developer Website. To make sure you’re on the safe side, DO NOT upgrade yet to iOS 5 since it’s still on its trial period if you are not a developer. In this way, you will prevent problem for your iDevice.
Note that this method of unlocking is technically illegal. Use Gevey SIM at your own risk and make sure you have the basic knowledge in restoring your iPhone through iTunes.

SlideAway
How do you like to use your favorite apps without unlocking your iPhone? You think I’m joking? Here’s an app that makes it real. SlideAway, a new jailbreak tweak, has done a tremendous job in improving iOS’s great features by giving a chance the user to use their favorite apps even if the iPhone is locked.
According to details you can read in Cydia: “SlideAway brings substance to your lockscreen….” Easy customization for the right side and left side shortcuts together with Slide Up Dock by actually sliding up the bar. “Custom Dock” will allow you to choose up to 5 different apps to put them in the dock.
SlideAway is very easy to install. Just launch Cydia and search for it. Purchase the app for $2.99 and download to install.

SMS Signature
Signatures are common when sending an email. But if you find it useful in text messaging service, then here’s a new jailbreak app that can enhance your iPhone’s performance. SMS signature will only work for a jailbroken iPhone since you need to download it through Cydia to install this app.
As simple as “adding a custom signature to text messages”, SMS signature provides a better solution for people sending text messages for marketing or business.

If you are using iPhone for a long period of time and at the same time you had an Android phone, you can probably compare the two based on notifications that Android has the better features. While iPhones surpassed almost all the other brands in terms of apps, there are some points where it’s not dealing great. And this includes the push notification that looks like just a simple and unattractive type.
This is the reason why Peter Hajas (a famed jailbreak developer) has developed MobileNotifier, the key to better push notifications. Peter just filled the empty space where Apple had neglected.

You need to jailbreak your iPhone first before you can use this tweak. To install MobileNotifier Beta 4, launch Cydia and add to Sources: http://phajas.xen.prgmr.com/repo
MobileNotifier is free to download, so there’s no reason you will not try this tweak to experience better way of notifications because by default, iPhone just doesn’t possess this ability. When you have MobileNotiifier installed, you will have better control on the notifications coming and gives you the option on how to view them. No matter what app you’re into, MobileNotifier shows you notifications on top of your screen through a sleek bar design. When you have notifications coming; you have the option to Open or Later. Tapping Open will direct you to the app sending the notification while taping Later will send the notification to the list for viewing later.

Get the latest version Beta 4 for MobileNotifier via Cydia, the jailbreak hub, to fully enjoy and explore the greatness that iPhone has brought.

Long before the jailbreak community has emerged dominantly, there was “Installer”, the pioneer in jail break app store before Cydia and Icy. As I had covered in my previous post about Icy, Installer has now being launched by the same developer. And now, they have successfully ported to iOS 4.3.3, brought to you by Infini-Dev Team from their website’s official blog.

Although Installer’s store is limited because it is actually working differently from Cydia, it’s still a great success for the Infini-Dev Team to come up something like this. This is a great challenge for Saurik, the man behind Cydia, to enhance and create more added features (not to mention the commercialism that is occuring in Cydia). I bet Installer will be doing great when the new repositories will come online in the future. We hope that somehow, there will be great developments to further enhance the features that Installer has brought.
Unfortunately, to install Installer, you have to launch in Cydia by adding in the Sources. Type in: http://fr0stdev.co.cc/repo and add. Search for Installer 4.0 at Cydia and install it. I recommend restarting your iPhone after installing and then Installer will be ready.

Installer will only worked for a jailbroken iPhone. Once you have installed, launch Installer from your springboard and you can now browse for the available apps for you to choose. Enjoy the new store for jailbreak apps aside from Cydia and Icy!

In my previous postings, I had covered some topics that explain why you should jailbreak your iPhone. Because of my over-excitement regarding jailbreak (this is because nobody ever taught me how to do it), I haven’t seen some disadvantages about it. After sometime, I realized that for a jailbroken iPhone, you cannot copy movies to your iPhone since iTunes won’t allow anymore. This is a slight problem and I assume somehow I can find a solution regarding this matter. I have tried procedure like using WinSCP but this process seems like very complicated so I decided to stop.
Today, I have read a great solution for my problem, the Xilisoft iPhone Magic. This is a great way to synchronize iPhone with your computer especially for a jailbroken iPhone. Xilisoft iPhone Magic can transfer and backup music, videos and pictures on your iPhone to your computer so that you will never worry about losing files from your iPhone.
Xilisoft iPhone Magic fully supports the latest iOS 4.3.3 (which I am using now) for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and even iPod Touch. You can also manage your iDevice as a portable hard drive after you had installed in your computer.
Added features include:
- Synchronize iPhone with iTunes Library
- Convert and copy video/music files in any format to iPhone
- Rip DVD movies and transfer them to iPhone
- Manage iPhone as a portable hard drive
- Create and edit photo album to manage images
Although this cost a little expensive ($35.95), it’s up to you how to find a solution. Since you have jailbreak your iPhone, there’s no reason not to find this another alternative.
